Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully. Every SlotAndSpot member must accept them.

SlotAndSpot is a community for aviation photographers. You may only upload photos and videos you shot yourself, or media you hold a valid licence for. Everything else is prohibited.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account, signing in with a third-party provider, or using SlotAndSpot in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.

You must be at least 16 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to hold an account.

2. Ownership of your content

You keep full copyright and ownership of every photo, video, story and text you upload. SlotAndSpot does not claim ownership of your work.

By uploading, you grant SlotAndSpot a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, compress and display your content inside the service for the purpose of operating and presenting the platform to other users. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already cached or lawfully shared by other users.

3. Upload rules — copyright and licensing

You may upload media ONLY if at least one of the following is true: (a) you personally captured the photo or video and hold the copyright in it; or (b) you hold a written, valid and current licence from the copyright owner that permits publication on a public social platform.

It is strictly forbidden to upload images or videos found on the internet, taken from other spotters, airlines, manufacturers, news outlets, databases (such as photo galleries or flight-tracking sites), social networks, or generated from someone else's copyrighted work — even with credit, even if freely accessible, and even if no copyright notice appears on them.

Removing, cropping out or altering a watermark, credit line or copyright metadata belonging to someone else is a serious violation and grounds for immediate permanent removal of your account.

Where a licence (for example Creative Commons) requires attribution, you must include the required credit and licence name in the caption.

You are solely and fully responsible for the legality of everything you upload. You confirm your uploads do not infringe any copyright, trademark, moral right, contractual restriction, privacy right or publicity right of any third party.

4. Copyright complaints and takedown

SlotAndSpot respects intellectual property rights and operates a notice-and-takedown process. A copyright owner (or their agent) may report infringing content and we will remove or disable access to it once the report is reviewed.

A notice should identify the infringing content, the original work, proof of ownership, your contact details and a statement made in good faith that the use is unauthorised.

SlotAndSpot is not a party to any copyright dispute between a reporter and the user who uploaded the content. Our only role is to review valid reports and remove or disable access to the reported material. Any legal claim, demand or action relating to the infringing content must be directed exclusively at the user who uploaded it. SlotAndSpot cannot be sued or held financially or legally responsible for copyright infringement committed by a user.

Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated without refund or notice.

5. Aviation safety, security and privacy

Spotting must always be lawful. Do not trespass on airport or airside property, do not interfere with aircraft operations, and obey all local laws, airport rules and instructions of security personnel and authorities.

Do not publish content that reveals security-sensitive information, restricted military or government installations where publication is prohibited, or personal data of crew, passengers or staff (including faces or names) without their consent where such consent is legally required.

GPS coordinates contained in your image files are stripped before publication, but you remain responsible for locations you disclose in captions.

6. Live flight data and ATC audio

Live aircraft positions are provided by third parties (including the OpenSky Network) and are shown for non-commercial, informational and hobby purposes only. Data may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate and must never be used for navigation, flight operations or any safety-critical purpose.

Live air traffic control audio streams are supplied by third-party providers. Availability, legality and licensing of a stream in your country are your responsibility. Do not re-record, rebroadcast or commercially exploit these streams.

Airport flight-board links point to official airport websites; the airport operator alone is responsible for that information.

7. Community conduct

Prohibited: harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual or violent content, spam, impersonation of another spotter or organisation, artificially inflating likes or followers, scraping the service, and any attempt to bypass security or access other users' data.

Private messages must not be used to distribute unlicensed media, malware or commercial solicitations.

8. Enforcement

We may remove content, restrict features, suspend or permanently delete an account that violates these Terms, and we may do so without prior notice where the violation is clear or serious, in particular in cases of copyright infringement.

9. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SlotAndSpot is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, loss of content, loss of profits, or for any damage arising from user-uploaded content or from third-party data and audio sources.

You agree to indemnify SlotAndSpot against any claim, demand or cost (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you uploaded or from your breach of these Terms.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When the update is material, you will be asked to read and accept the new version before continuing to use your account. Continued use after acceptance constitutes agreement.
